With the sizzling temperatures this summer, we all made the very best of the holiday season. Congratulations to Suzie & Andrew who opened the new Water Sports facilities in time for the summer holidays.
The Diamond Jubilee celebrations were outstanding and memories were made that will last a lifetime. However, sad times followed with the death of our beloved Queen Elizabeth II, followed by the accession to the throne of King Charles III.
We look forward to 2023 and all it may bring.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all my colleagues from all departments for your continued commitment over the pandemic years, it has not always been easy, but we couldn’t have done it without you.
Last but not least I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New year.
Miriam Ellis
General Manager
Another fast-paced year has flown by, and 2022 certainly won't be forgotten. We have welcomed so many new customers to Skegness Water Leisure Park and Waterford Holiday Park, we have seen even more old faces return to the holiday home lifestyle.
Post-pandemic, the caravan industry has changed dramatically. New holiday home production levels have been hindered by a lack of raw materials and a reduced amount of skilled staff available, so you may have noticed a lot less new caravans arriving throughout the 2022 season. However, for the 2023 season we are happy to confirm we have lots of exciting new caravans arriving from Willerby and Swift over the course of the next few months ready for viewing. Keep an eye on our website and our social media for when they arrive.
There has never been a better time to part exchange your existing holiday home. Please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss any of our current special deals. Due to the current UK economic position, we expect an increased interest in “stay-cations”. Whether you are looking for your dream new caravan or a quality used caravan we will always be pleased to discuss our latest offers.
Sales will be open 7 days a week throughout the winter period and now is the best time to get your new holiday homes ready for the new season.
To book an appointment please contact either Mark, Brett or Sam.

As our first sub-letting “friendly” park, if you buy on Waterford, you will also be able to rent out your holiday home privately if you wish. What better way to earn some extra income to help pay for and maintain your stunning holiday home ?
Our experienced Sales Team will be able to discuss this with you and provide advice on the law relating to rental units.

Please contact the Sales Office on-site on 01754 873136 or even better, call and see the team and the caravans on the showground or to discuss a transfer (subject to status), we would be delighted to see you !
Our smallest site, Nursery Bungalow, is fantastic for those looking for a quiet and rural retreat whilst still being close to all the action the east coast has to offer. With an on-site fishing lake and a fantastic range of bars and restaurants in Burgh Le Marsh only a mile away.
With only six static caravan plots and five Caravan & Camping Club exclusive hard-standing touring plots on site you can be sure to arrive to peace and quiet any time of the year, with a vehicle barrier and 24-hour CCTV in operation for additional peace of mind.
Register your interest with our sales team today to learn more about static caravan ownership or give us a call to book a pitch!
On behalf of myself, Clare, and the team I would like to thank you for your support throughout the 2022 season.
From Bingo to Drag Nights we did it all. With the added bonus of raising nearly £1000 for Charity. Thank you to the volunteers who helped make this happen (you know who you are).
Here's to an Amazing 2023 season and meeting friends old and new.
Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.
On behalf of myself and my team, I would like to thank you all, for your support through a turbulent year. With highs and lows from The Jubilee celebrations with Paddington Bear (great clip…). To Women's football, well done The Lionesses! Plus, a great Summer Season. From the devastating news of our longest reigning monarch (you will be missed Ma'am) to the celebrations of King Charles' accession to the throne.
Looking forward to our 2023 season, despite the challenging problems facing all of us and the world around us, we will still be here to help you through it. Don't forget we are still open until January 1st 2023, we'd love to see you and welcome you to the warm comforting home of The Barn Inn on these cold winter evenings or of course from March 1st next year. The log burner will be waiting for you !
Please continue to check the website, social media and posters outside for special promotions, events, and Party Nights. Did you know that you can also book the back bar area for private parties and functions ? Whether it is for a special birthday, anniversary, or any other special event, please talk to myself or Katie about the various options available.
Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Now more than ever, spending time in nature is an important element to include in our daily lives. Known to reduce stress, anxiety, fear and anger, nature has a positive impact on our blood pressure, heart rate and muscle production. Simply put, nature makes us feel better.
Here at Skegness Water Leisure Park, we have over one hundred acres of beautiful countryside for you to relax in and enjoy. Our ethos since the park began was to create a development which enhances and encourages the existing wildlife and nature to thrive.
As part of the planning application, which was submitted and approved for the Southfields development, we included an area of approximately five acres which would be developed into a Nature Trail, including three different walks of varying lengths and a butterfly garden. We are excited to tell you that work on this has now commenced.
The tree and hedge boundary for Southfields was planted approximately five years ago and is now a very well-established boundary of native trees and shrubs already providing homes, shelter and food for a variety of wildlife.
During September 2022, two areas have been cultivated and planted with wildflower seed to create two substantial wildflower meadows. One is adjacent to the football field and fishing lake on Southfields, and the second is the area adjacent to the public footpath which runs at the far south of the Southfields development.
The Autumn/Winter of 2022 will see the additional planting of a number of native trees in the Nature Trail area, approximately 150 in total. These will provide additional homes and food for the wildlife, as well as providing the opportunity to educate our visitors as to the types of trees that are here and why.
This is a long-term project and an ongoing commitment to nurture our existing wildlife and encourage new additional wildlife to the area. It will therefore take several years for the trees to establish and mature, but hopefully next year we will have two wildflower meadows tempting a variety of bees, butterflies and other insects. This in turn will create food sources for other wildlife and so food chains will be created.
Alongside this long-term project, we will also be introducing a number of new nature resources, including three nature trails for you to use, enjoy and learn about yourselves. We are extremely fortunate to have an extensive variety of wildlife within the park and we are aiming to highlight more of this and its importance during your stay.
Our new Nature Page on our website will be detailing what wildlife can be seen, and where, during the year, along with lots of other information and activities for both adults and children. Please feel free to send photographs of anything of interest that you see. We will post the best photographs onto our Nature Page on the website. Please use the email nature@skegnesswaterleisurepark.co.uk.

In 2022 we were delighted to be given an opportunity to introduce water sports back to the park. We decided to start relatively small so we could establish what would work and haven't been disappointed. This year we introduced Paddleboarding, Kayaking, Pedalos, Chillibikes and the mini port ships.
Everyone who came to enjoy the water sports loved the new additions to the lake, we seemed to have found activities for the whole family. Our customers were absolutely fantastic and threw themselves into the water sports like ducks to water!
2022 was only a really short season for us, but hopefully the starting point for many years to come, we are really looking forward to operating for a full season in 2023, and are currently looking at some new exciting activities to bring you, and will be looking at kids clubs, memberships, holiday passes for multi-activities. We would also love to know what you would like us to bring to the park, email us at info@skegnesswatersports.co.uk with your ideas.
If you want to keep up to date with what we are up to, just head over to our website or social media pages for more details.
Our team cannot wait for the 2023 Season to start.
Best wishes for 2023 from Suzi, Andrew and Alice.
The Park is home to a narrow gauge heritage railway which regularly steams its 120-year old loco called Jurassic and offers rides behind her on the line, known as the Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway, from a station next to the airfield and the camping site, close to the Reception area.
It was in fact the very first heritage railway in the whole world to be built by enthusiasts when it opened in 1960 on its original site near Cleethorpes. When that closed, everything moved to the Park - locomotives, carriages, signals - even the rails and sleepers, the fishplates and the platform seats. It owns and operates historic locomotives and carriages many of which were used in the trenches of the First World battlefields and on farms and factories in Lincolnshire and elsewhere.
The railway is run entirely by volunteers who give their time and energy to bringing back to life these wonderful means of transport from a bygone era. Once these railways kept people and goods moving in remote areas which could not be reached by roads or full size railways - and now they're here in the Park, for you to enjoy.
Trains normally run on Saturdays and Wednesdays during the school summer holiday period and on some Mondays in August and the Spring and August Bank Holidays from around 11 o'clock to just before 4 pm. You can check times and latest updates on www.lclr.co.uk and see what's new on the railway's Facebook page “Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway Today”.
The trains run on tracks two feet wide (so a little under half the size of the normal standard-gauge trains on Britain's railways). Marvel at Jurassic's beautiful green livery, polished brass and her long chimney, curvaceous saddle tank, large cab and small boiler and her six coupled wheels - she's the real thing, powered by Welsh steam coal. The heritage diesels were built from 1920 onwards by a firm called Motor Rail, who developed them for the British Army in World War One - they're of a type known as “Simplex”. You can ride in a disabled-friendly open carriage # 2572 which was originally built to take troops and their supplies up to the front line trenches - see if you can find the shrapnel holes in the frames left by the German artillery. There's the “Queen Mary” carriage, originally built to take shooting parties around the 23 mile sof the Nocton Estates Railway in the Lincolnshire Fens and two huge carriages from the Ashover Light Railway, which ran near Chesterfield in Derbyshire.
The railway is an award-winning “must-see” when visiting Lincolnshire; there is disabled access, dogs go free, as do children under 3 and family tickets are available at reduced rates. See if you can find the plaque marking where HRH The Princes Royal Princess Anne sat on her visit!
And if you want to get involved, you can join the charitable trust whose members operate the line: on Wednesdays and some Saturdays, you can join them in restoration and renovation work and learn to operate the trains if you're 18 or over. (Yes, we really will teach you drive, fire and guard the trains and look after the track and trains).
Keep an eye on the LCLR’s website and on its Facebook Page for confirmation of dates and extra days (often announced at short notice) - and you can find out there how to be part of this unique and wonderful railway in the Skegness Water Leisure Park.

Well, what a year it's been, not only did we manage to achieve 2 major goals in the restoration but also hosted a classic car club as well.
The display season started with hosting what was scheduled to be a short stop by the Morgan Owners Club, which turned in to a few hours. Arrangements for this visit where over the winter period as it involved people coming from Scotland. Thankfully everything went to plan despite the weather and another visit is being planned.
On the actual aircraft side of things, we have made massive strides towards getting the aircraft as close as possible to its service life. First up was mounting the replica Firestreak missile on the starboard side. This is the first time since being de-commissioned in 1987 that any time of missile has been mounted on the aircraft. This was closely followed by installing the first of her 2 ejection seats. Again, this is the first time since 1987 that the aircraft has had the correct seat in. While the seat itself is only 85% complete we decided to install it and add the missing items as and when we can find them.
Corrosion work has now started internally but was halted for a period due to the high temperatures. But this in turn gave us time to build some handrails for the platform, which now allows us to let the general public view the cockpit for the first time (no access allowed inside the cockpit).
So, in summery a very busy summer period resulting in some major changes. As you read this, we have already started making plans for next year. So be sure to cast an eye airfield direction when passing next year.
And finally thank you all for kind comments and visits over the past 12 months, we look forward to seeing you all next year.
Craig Wise
Head of Restoration
The 2022 season commenced in April with lots of “NEW” a new team led by Andrew and Mark. The control room was completely refreshed inside and out including new signage, new computerised pilot information and a new weather station which anybody can view online.
Aircraft movements far exceeded pre-covid numbers throughout the season reflecting strong demand for domestic breaks including land and stay away breaks.
Notable flying visitors included the famous “WACKY WABBIT” and more aviation events/fly-ins are already being planned for next season so check out our Facebook page “SKEGNESS AIRFIELD” where we will post all upcoming events.
Landing fees have been redesigned to encourage both bygone/vintage aircraft alongside contemporary aircraft constructed using the latest cutting edge design and materials.
General aviation is the platform through which newer more efficient/cleaner technologies can be tested and brought to market and we are even now seeing visiting aircraft in the traditional format utilising different power sources plus VTOL designs which will reduce personal travel times from the midlands to the east coast in less than 20mins.
Looking to the skies over skegness you may well see in addition to the existing air traffic the Red arrow and predator squadrons which are now based at RAF Waddington.
Congratulations to Martin who won the first prize in this years macmillan coffee morning and will be spending an interesting Half hour in the skies above skegness very soon.
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and hope to see you all at the airfield in the new season.
